Healthspan Elite FAQs
Who is LGC Sport?
LGC is a world-renowned sport doping control and research laboratory, with over 50 years of expertise in anti-doping in sport. A laboratory with WADA testing experience, LGC has published over 350 peer-reviewed scientific studies. In 2008, LGC launched the Informed Sport certification programme.
What is Informed Sport?
Informed Sport is a supplement testing and certification programme which provides assurance to athletes that products carrying the Informed Sport logo are manufactured to the highest quality standards and have been batch-screened for substances banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
The Informed Sport programme works closely with supplement manufacturers and suppliers to implement the necessary systems, procedures and high quality analytical testing to minimise the incidence of banned contaminants finding their way into sport. Athletes who see the Informed Sport logo on a product can be assured it has undergone a rigorous risk analysis and screening programme for substances banned by sport and is therefore safer to use.
If a product carries the Informed Sport logo does it mean that it is guaranteed to be free from banned substances?
Products which are accredited under the Informed Sport programme have been tested for a wide range of substances banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency to provide the highest possible level of assurance for athletes. Therefore, Healthspan Elite® products are safer to use than supplements that have not undergone a stringent batch testing programme. It is impossible, however, for any supplement product to guarantee that it is 100% free from banned substances, as the World Anti-Doping Agency banned substance list is open-ended.
What is the risk of a supplement being contaminated if it is not tested under the Informed Sport programme?
Research conducted by LGC found that approximately one in ten high street supplement brands tested in the UK & Europe contained low levels of contamination by substances banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency. Even at low levels these substances could lead to a failed drugs test. In the same research study products tested under the Informed Sport programme were found to have negligible levels of contamination.

What are NRVs?
In December 2014 European regulations came into effect changing how our nutritional information needed to be displayed. Here is a summary of these changes.RDAs (Recommended daily intake) changed to NRVs (Nutrient Reference Values). Instead of 100% RDA, you now see 100% NRV. The values for RDA and NRV are the same.
- The terminology ‘Nutritional Information’ changed to 'Product Information'.
- The terminology used in ingredient lists is slightly different. For example, Vitamin B3 is listed with its scientific name: 'Nicotinamide' or 'Nicotinic Acid'.
- We no longer display allergens separately in an 'Allergy Advice' box on the side of the pack. Instead, any allergens – such as egg or milk – are highlighted in bold within the ingredients list.
- In the ingredients listing, Non-Active Ingredients are described in terms of how they contribute to the creation of your product.
